Like every ingot of the house, it is born in the laboratory of Dottignies (Mouscron), from recycled European gold melted, refined and assayed on site, under the approval of the Royal Mint of Belgium and the control of our assayer. The first weight that weighs
Place a 10 grams in a palm: after the 5 grams that opens the range, it is the first weight the hand notices. Where the entry format surprises by its discretion, the 10 grams weighs more than a 2 euro coin, and the hand knows it at once. The object remains tiny nonetheless: gold is nineteen times denser than water, and these ten grams fit in half a cubic centimetre of metal. It is the very nature of gold: much value, very little room.
This weight bears a name the metric system has almost left dormant: the decagram, ten grams exactly, the round unit par excellence. Round for the scale, round also for the mind: the price of the gram multiplied by ten, and the price of the ingot is read in one’s head. Of all the formats in the range, it is the simplest to follow day after day.
The trade distinguishes two families of ingots. Minted bars are cut from rolled metal then marked under the press: clean surfaces, sharp edges, a precise hallmark. Cast bars are produced by pouring molten precious metals directly into carefully prepared moulds: their surface keeps the trace of the fire. From one weight to the next, the module changes: that is the trade’s word for the dimensions of the flan. That of the 10 grams stretches and widens compared with the 5 grams: the eagle’s head of Gold & Silver Company breathes there on a more ample field, still in relief on its background worked as an inverted proof, above the words FINE GOLD, the fineness Au 999.9 and the weight. Same design, same proof: simply more metal to inhabit. And like every ingot of the house, it carries a unique serial number, which guarantees its traceability and its authenticity.
Born of the same fire
Behind every 10 grams there are dormant jewels, inherited coins, ingots of another brand: the gold clients bring to the counter every day. This recycled European gold is analysed by spectrometry at the laboratory of Dottignies (Mouscron), melted, refined to fine gold, rolled then minted, under one roof.
The Foundry-Refinery, an integrated precious metals refinery in Belgium, is approved by the Royal Mint of Belgium and certifies its ingots by laboratory assay: the fineness engraved on the ingot is verified on the metal by our assayer. The weight the world counts by heart
Ten grams is not a weight like the others: it is the unit in which part of the world expresses the price of gold. In India, one of the two leading gold markets on the planet, the price is given neither by the ounce nor by the kilo, but in rupees for 10 grams: newspapers display it that way, jewellers calculate it that way, hundreds of millions of savers follow it that way.
It is no accident: ten grams is enough gold to weigh, little enough to remain accessible. To hold a 10 grams is to hold the unit of account itself, the weight in which the largest gold public in the world thinks the metal.

The sealed blister, the ingot’s identity card
The 10 grams leaves the laboratory sealed in its tamper-proof blister, with its assay certificate: the front carries the Gold & Silver Company logo; the back displays the house’s quality mark then the weight, the purity and the words Certified by assayer: the purity and the quality of the ingot are guaranteed by the house’s assay certificate. On the back still, a QR code: scanning it is enough to verify the ingot’s identity and its traceability.
The shell protects the minting, and the minting makes the price of the minted bar: a surface keeps intact, a hallmark keeps sharp. Sealed, the ingot is kept, passed on and resold in the exact state in which it left the refinery, and its control at buyback is all the faster. There is no reason to open a blister, and every good reason never to do so.
The doubler’s step
In a range that climbs from 5 grams to the kilo, the 10 grams is the first step taken: twice the entry format, same minted family, same hallmark. It is the weight of the one who started small and carries on, in regular layers, without ever committing at once the budget of a heavy ingot.
The rule holds for the whole range: the smaller the ingot, the more the share of manufacturing weighs in its price per gram. A single flan, a single minting, a single blister for ten grams: mechanically, that share decreases, and the gram of a 10 grams is better placed than that of a 5 grams. It is the first step towards the efficiency of the heavy weights, without giving up a format that resells in one gesture.

The price: net, displayed, alive
The price of the 10 grams follows the gold price, which lives continuously: it is therefore not engraved here. It is displayed, updated, on the page Certified ingots. This price is net: no commission, no fee is added to the amount displayed.
Purchase takes place at the agency in Dottignies (Mouscron) or remotely; cash payment is possible up to 3,000 euros per person and per day, under the regulations in force. Investment gold is bought without VAT, and the 10 gram ingot fully qualifies.
And on the day of resale
The 10 grams is resold at the counter, without appointment. The ingot is checked at the laboratory, before the client’s eyes, and settlement follows the rule applicable to the buyback of precious metals in Belgium: up to 500 euros in cash, the balance by bank transfer. Your questions about the 10 gram ingot
One 10 gram ingot or two 5 gram ingots?
Both logics hold. Two 5 gram ingots offer more flexibility at resale: two tranches that can be sold separately, as needs arise. A 10 grams offers a better placed gram, a single blister, a single control at buyback. Many combine: the house mints both formats, the choice remains open.
Is the 10 gram ingot pure gold?
