Gold & Silver Company deserves your trust because it controls the metal from start to finish, in its own Smelter-Refinery in Dottignies (Mouscron), rather than reselling a price set by a third party. Approved by the Royal Mint of Belgium and listed in the Guarantee Register, the house is controlled by a State assayer: spectrometric analysis, certified scales, bars cast and certified on site. Trust is not declared. It is documented. Every weighing takes place in front of you, every fineness can be read, every total is put in writing. A Google rating of 4.8/5 across some 250 reviews, a number 1 ranking by Le Point (alternative investments 2026), a Capital article from December 2025: the evidence is public. A broker sells a price. A refinery controls the metal.

At Gold & Silver Company, the best selling terms are judged by the documented gram of fine gold, not by the sales pitch. Compare what is comparable: weight, fineness, price per gram, written total. Be wary of non-specialist buyers, pop-up counters and door-to-door dealers, who sometimes play on the confusion between carats or on approximate weighing. Choose an established house, with no intermediaries, secure premises and a visible certified scale. Insist on a weighing carried out in front of you and a written statement. That is the standard applied to every transaction at our branch in Dottignies (Mouscron), with spectrometric analysis whenever the fineness needs to be established. The price quoted is the amount paid: no tax is levied on the buy-back transaction itself. General information, not individual tax advice.

Gold & Silver Company adds what an intermediary cannot promise: control of the chain. You sell directly to a Smelter-Refinery. Free appraisal of your gold items, a professional buying procedure, settlement at the agency and by transfer (up to 500 euros in cash at the agency, the rest by bank transfer within 5 business days, or a prepaid card), or, if you prefer, the exchange of your gold for investment assets: certified bars or gold coins, within a contractual and traceable framework. Confidentiality at every stage. A guarantee unique to our model: the guaranteed remelting of purchased jewellery in our own Smelter-Refinery, so your jewellery will never be resold as it is to a third party. The price quoted is the amount paid, with no tax levied on the transaction. Below 1kg, everything is handled without an appointment; beyond that, a personalised file is opened, with or without an appointment.

Gold & Silver Company brings together under one roof the expertise that others scatter. Buying gold and silver from private individuals and professionals, selling certified bars and investment coins, refining the metal in our own Smelter-Refinery, free appraisals and valuations, personalised wealth advice, and the rental of safe deposit boxes outside the banking system in Dottignies (Mouscron). To this we add skills rarely found in one place: diamond and fine jewellery expertise, numismatics, luxury watchmaking, an auctioneer and valuer on site (by appointment), and tax guidance for both buying and selling. We call this integrated model the Neo-smelter: laboratory, spectrometric analysis, melting, refining, bar production, storage and personal guidance. From the jewellery handed in at the branch to the certified bar, the metal never leaves our chain of control. Transparency does not come from an interface. It comes from control of the chain.

We accept and hand over cash at our premises within the Belgian legal limits.

A client buying gold may pay up to 3,000 euros in cash. Above that amount, payment can be made by bank card, instant transfer or traditional bank transfer. Subject to a file review, you may settle more than 3,000 euros in cash through our entity outside the European Union.

A client selling gold receives up to 500 euros in cash at the agency and the balance by bank transfer within 5 business days. From 1kg of gold, we open a personalised file, with or without an appointment, and study alternative settlement solutions adapted to each situation. A staggered patrimonial settlement, contractual and traceable; the exchange of your gold bar for gold coins within a contractual and traceable framework; or full cash payment via our entity outside the European Union. These tailor-made solutions entail fees, presented in full transparency before the operation. Our clients appreciate them precisely for the flexibility they offer.

New gold does not exist. All the gold on the planet has been lying in the ground for millennia: by the time it leaves the mine, it has already had a long life underground. An indestructible metal, it then circulates without losing its qualities: the purest bar produced today may contain gold mined in Roman times and remelted in the Middle Ages. Melted, refined and turned into bars or pure gold grain destined for the jewellery trade, it is shipped to the four corners of the world. At Gold & Silver Company, we recycle this gold once it has arrived in Europe: brought to our laboratory in Dottignies (Mouscron), it is analysed, melted and refined in our own Smelter-Refinery to be given another life, that of a certified bar. The difference in price therefore lies not in the metal, which is identical, but in the guarantee: a certified bar follows the official price, a piece of jewellery is valued by the gram of fine gold, and a sought-after coin such as a Napoleon may carry a premium. Gold does not age. It changes form.

Since 1 January 2026, investment gold has been subject in Belgium to a 10% tax on capital gains for Belgian tax residents. This measure only concerns Belgian tax residents: if you reside elsewhere in Europe, this tax does not concern you.

Remaining outside the scope of the tax: gold jewellery, ancient and collectible gold coins struck before 1800, and silver in all its forms, bars, coins, jewellery.

For modern gold bars and coins, the tax is in practice most often erased by the annual capital gains allowance: 10,000 euros per person, i.e. 20,000 euros for a couple. If unused, this allowance increases by 1,000 euros per year, up to 15,000 euros per person, i.e. 30,000 euros for a couple.

The current gold price remains close to the reference value of 31 December 2025: the taxable capital gain remains modest today, and is most often entirely absorbed by the annual allowance.

General information, not individual tax advice: let us discuss it together in our agency.

No. Gold & Silver Company does not buy gold-plated jewellery. A layer of a few microns over a base metal does not contain enough gold for reasonable recovery, even in a smelter. This also protects you: a buyer who offers a price for gold plate is necessarily making money elsewhere. Beware of confusing markings. Some jewellery marked 18K R.G. (rolled gold) is plated, whereas a 750 hallmark indicates solid 18-carat gold. If in doubt, bring everything to our branch in Dottignies (Mouscron): the appraisal is free and you will know immediately what is solid gold and what is not. Spectrometric analysis settles what the eye cannot.

Gold & Silver Company only buys precious metals: gold and silver, in all their forms. We therefore do not buy costume jewellery, steel, copper, bronze, brass, watch movements containing no gold, or metals that are merely gilded on the surface. If a batch mixes solid gold and costume pieces, our experts sort it in front of you, free of charge, and return whatever has no metal value. The reverse also applies: a gold ring lost in your batch of plated items, or a white gold ring slipped in among your silverware, our experts will tell you so honestly. The entire appraisal procedure is filmed. Several Google reviews bear witness to this: customers have discovered with us that, during a previous assessment at a broker, their plated and gold items, or their silver and white gold, had been deliberately mixed together to cheat them. If in doubt, bring everything to our branch in Dottignies (Mouscron): only an on-site appraisal gives certainty, and it costs you nothing.

At Gold & Silver Company, the purchase of a piece of jewellery set with stones covers the precious metal: the weight of the stones is deducted, and only the fine gold is paid for. Non-precious stones are returned to you on request when they can be unset without being damaged. For a valuable stone, a global offer may be considered in exceptional cases, depending on its quality and the certificates available. If your stones matter to you, say so before the appraisal: the handling is adapted accordingly. A signed piece, an important stone or an antique object may be worth more than its weight in gold, and we will tell you so. In that specific case, you can meet our auctioneer and valuer in Dottignies (Mouscron) by appointment. Every statement distinguishes the gross weight, the weight of the stones and the weight of gold paid for.

To sell your gold at Gold & Silver Company, simply come to Dottignies (Mouscron) during opening hours, without an appointment. On site, your items are examined in front of you: weighing on a certified scale, verification of the hallmarks, spectrometric analysis if necessary. You receive a detailed offer calculated on the day's price, free of charge and without obligation: you remain free to accept, to think it over or to leave with your belongings. If you agree, you receive up to 500 euros in cash at the agency, with the rest paid by bank transfer within 5 business days, or you may leave with investment assets, invoice in hand. Once a sale reaches 1kg of gold, it is handled through a personalised file, with or without an appointment.

Gold & Silver Company bars are cast and certified in our own Smelter-Refinery, approved by the Royal Mint of Belgium for the production of certified bars. Each bar bears its fineness, its weight and its unique number, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The house is listed in the Guarantee Register of the Royal Mint of Belgium, in accordance with the law of 11 August 1987 on the guarantee of articles made of precious metals. The investment coins we sell come from official issuers and are checked before being offered for sale. Authenticity does not rest on a promise: it can be read on the metal, the number and the register.

Yes. At Gold & Silver Company, private individuals and professionals alike have access to certified bars from our Smelter-Refinery, to investment gold coins and to investment silver. Physical gold is a tangible asset with no counterparty risk: it is nobody's debt. Our advisers build with you an approach suited to your time horizon and your budget, without ever pushing you to buy. Amounts are calculated live on the spot price. Your position remains liquid: we buy back what we sell, at the day's price, with no queues and no unnecessary paperwork. Physical gold makes no promises. It exists.

At Gold & Silver Company, the Dottignies (Mouscron) facilities are designed like those of a high-security institution: video surveillance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, safe deposit boxes outside the banking system, strict access protocols and trained staff. During the appraisal, your belongings remain before your eyes, in a discreet space away from prying eyes. Confidentiality applies at every stage: your personal information is neither shared nor used outside the legal framework. Professionals in the sector entrust us with their own metals for precisely this reason. Trust is not declared. It is documented, piece by piece, under control.

Yes. Gold & Silver Company offers the rental of safe deposit boxes outside the banking system at its Dottignies (Mouscron) facilities. Your valuables remain accessible during opening hours, without depending on the schedules, restrictions or uncertainties of a bank. Several sizes accommodate documents, jewellery, coins or bars. More and more customers combine the purchase of gold with the rental of a box: the metal then never leaves a secure environment. The discretion of the house applies to the rental just as it does to the rest of the relationship. Ask at the branch about availability and rates.

All bought-back gold eventually returns to a refinery: it is the refinery that melts the metal and puts it back into circulation. The real question is the number of intermediaries between you and it. The jeweller buys gold as a sideline to his trade and resells your gold to a wholesaler or a counter. The gold-buying counter is a commissioned intermediary: it melts nothing, it collects and then resells to the refinery. At each link in the chain, a margin is taken out of the amount paid to you. Gold & Silver Company is an integrated Smelter-Refinery, open to private individuals and professionals alike: you sell directly to the last link in the chain. Prices calculated live on the spot price, with no brokerage fees and no hidden charges, spectrometric analysis and weighing on a certified scale on site, settlement at the agency and by bank transfer within 5 business days. A broker sells a price. A refinery controls the metal.

Several publications have documented the Gold & Silver Company model. Le Point ranks the house number 1 in its 2026 Ranking of Alternative Investments (lepoint.fr, July 2026). In December 2025, Capital published 'Gold and silver: the transparency of precious metal' (capital.fr), which presents the Smelter-Refinery open to private individuals and professionals alike. In 2026, notélé filmed the report 'Behind the scenes of gold' in the Dottignies (Mouscron) workshops. These recognitions concern the reality of the workshops and the integrated model, not advertising promises. On the customer side, the house holds a Google rating of 4.8 out of 5 across some 250 published reviews.

At Gold & Silver Company, the buying price is calculated live on the international spot price of gold, updated in real time during market hours. At the branch, your items are weighed in front of you on a certified scale; their fineness (18 carats, 24 carats and so on) is determined by appraisal, and the amount is then established per gram of fine gold contained. You receive a detailed offer, with no brokerage fees, no administration fees, no hidden charges, and no tax on the transaction when you sell. You remain free to accept or to decline: the appraisal is free and without obligation. The statement is read before your eyes, gram by gram.

At Gold & Silver Company, selling a gold bar is done at the branch, without an appointment, in a single visit, whether it is 50 g, one ounce, 250 g or 500 g. The bar is authenticated in front of you: verification of the serial number and the certificate if it is sealed, spectrometric analysis if the metal requires it, weighing on a certified scale. The valuation follows the live spot price, with no brokerage fees. Settlement follows the Belgian legal framework: no more than 500 euros in cash at the agency, the remainder by bank transfer within 5 business days. Beyond 1kg, the file becomes personalised, with or without an appointment. Our Smelter-Refinery also buys old, damaged, scratched or uncertificated bars: the metal is proven in the laboratory, not only on paper.

Inherited gold is sold at Gold & Silver Company like any other gold: jewellery, coins or bars, on simple presentation of a valid identity document. No original purchase invoice is required. Our experts authenticate the metal (hallmarks, spectrometry if needed) and value it at the day's price, at the branch in Dottignies (Mouscron), without an appointment below 1kg. Beyond that threshold, a personalised file takes over, with or without an appointment. For a Belgian tax resident, gold held before 2026 relies on the reference value of 31 December 2025 to measure any capital gain: the calculation basis often starts from that floor, which limits taxation in many cases. General information, not individual tax advice.

To sell your gold at Gold & Silver Company, a valid identity document is sufficient in most cases. This is a legal obligation for any precious metals dealer in Belgium, and the foundation of a traceable market. Every transaction gives rise to a written statement: nature of the items, weight, fineness applied, amount paid. You receive up to 500 euros in cash at the agency, with the remainder transferred to your account within 5 business days. For substantial files (heavy bars, coin collections, estate lots), we may ask for elements of provenance: certificates, invoices or deeds of succession. Your data is processed strictly within the framework of Belgian legislation. Below 1kg, everything is settled at the branch in Dottignies (Mouscron), without an appointment.

Yes. Gold & Silver Company buys silver in all its forms: silverware (cutlery, dishes, table services), coins, bars and granules. The weighing takes place in front of you on a certified scale; the amount follows the spot price of silver in real time. A point that is often overlooked: in Belgium, silver remains outside the scope of the capital gains tax that came into force in 2026, whatever its form. Our Smelter-Refinery also gives value to mismatched, tarnished or incomplete lots that many jewellers turn away, because silver is melted and refined on our premises. At the branch in Dottignies (Mouscron), without an appointment for ordinary volumes. General information, not individual tax advice.

Yes. Many customers living in France sell their gold at Gold & Silver Company in Dottignies (Mouscron), 15 minutes from Lille, without an appointment below 1kg. In Belgium, no tax is levied at the time of the transaction, whereas in France the precious metals tax of 11.5% is withheld at source on the total amount. The sale is documented from start to finish: you receive up to 500 euros in cash at the agency, then the transfer of the rest within 5 business days, to a French or Belgian account. From 1kg of gold, your sale is organised through a personalised file, with or without an appointment. Everyone's tax situation remains personal. General information, not individual tax advice.

At Gold & Silver Company, the fineness of your gold is determined at the branch, free of charge and in front of you, whether you sell or not. Hallmarks give a first indication: 750 for 18 carats, 585 for 14 carats, 375 for 9 carats, 333 for 8 carats. A hallmark may be missing, illegible or counterfeit. Our experts then combine visual examination, a density test and, in case of doubt, spectrometric analysis, the same method our Smelter-Refinery uses to certify its bars. You leave with the exact fineness and the fine gold weight of each item. An assay is not guessed by touch: it is measured. Without an appointment in Dottignies (Mouscron) for a standard appraisal.

At Gold & Silver Company, the choice between bars and coins depends on the use you have in mind, not on fashion. The bar concentrates the metal at the most economical price per gram: the manufacturing premium falls as the weight rises, with 1kg costing less per gram than ten 100 g units. Investment coins bring divisibility: selling a fraction of a position without touching the rest, and certain sought-after coins carry a market premium that may change over time. Many customers combine the two: a foundation of bars, and a reserve of coins for flexibility. Investment gold is exempt from VAT. Our advisers put together a mix according to your budget and time horizon, without pushing you to buy. General information, not individual tax advice.

Yes, Gold & Silver Company accepts postal delivery if you are unable to travel. You send your items by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt and delivery against signature, declaring the value to the postal service, which insures the parcel until it is handed over to us. On receipt, your items are appraised and we send you a detailed offer. If you accept it, payment is sent by bank transfer within 5 business days. If you decline it, we keep your items free of charge for six months: a sale order at the moment of your choosing, or collection at the branch within that period. After six months, storage charges apply. A visit to the branch in Dottignies (Mouscron) remains the most transparent route: the appraisal takes place before your eyes, without an appointment below 1kg.

Yes. At Gold & Silver Company, an auctioneer and valuer sees clients on site in Dottignies (Mouscron), by appointment. Where others limit themselves to the weight of the metal, his eye assesses what melting cannot restore: the signature of a jeweller, the rarity of an old coin, the quality of a stone, the provenance of an object. Some pieces of jewellery are worth more than their weight in gold, and we tell you so before any transaction. This is particularly useful for estates, collections and signed pieces. You then sell with full knowledge of the facts, never below the true value of the item. Metal is weighed; an object is read.
